Profile

Vanessa

Vanessa Adorni studied commercial Interior Design at the University of North London, gaining a BA (Honours) degree in 1991. A subsequent career change from account management to property refurbishment led her to discover a love of designing with plants and enjoyment of landscaping and developing inspired solutions for exterior spaces.

Now a practised Garden Designer, Vanessa trained at Capel Manor from 2004 to 2007, qualifying in Garden Design, Planting Design, Horticulture and Hard Landscaping and has since been awarded an RHS Silver Gilt Medal.

Intuitive, creative and possessing strong spatial awareness Vanessa believes that successful design should be fundamentally pleasurable to experience as well as aesthetically pleasing, ultimately suiting its purpose of function. She works closely with her clients to provide them with a unique solution that fulfils all aspects of their design brief, producing stylish contemporary and classic landscapes that give lasting pleasure.

Vanessa works on private and commercial projects primarily across London, Hertfordshire and the South East, working in conjunction with architects, skilled landscapers, specialist contractors and quality suppliers, striving to deliver premium finishes.

Awards

Competition winner in May 2007, sponsors Grand Marnier commissioned Vanessa's design for their show garden entitled "L'Esprit Jardin". They had requested a garden that would reflect their new brand positioning and which could be utilised as a base to re-launch their product that summer. Having fully met the client brief the contemporary water garden was built for the July 2007 RHS Hampton Court Show. It was awarded a prestigious RHS Silver Gilt medal and was in full use by the public and enjoyed throughout the week long show. It proved a great success, facilitating the Grand Marnier team to triple their projected sales figures for the week.

In October 2008 Vanessa was awarded first runner up position in the competition to design Thrive's soon to be revamped Battersea Park Therapeutic Garden. Vanessa was subsequently commissioned by the charity in March 2009, to design a range of therapeutic gardens collectively entitled the "Garden Gallery" for use by their clients at their head office in the tranquil grounds of the Geoffrey Udall Centre, Beech Hill. Thrive is a small national charity specialising in horticultural therapy - using gardening to change the lives of disabled people.
